Review of The Kiss That Killed Me by Kristy Nicolle

The Kiss That Killed Me (The Tidal Kiss Trilogy Book 1)
By Kristy Nicolle
4 stars

When Callie Pierce turns 18 she has three very simple goals: avoid her stepfather, escape to an Ivy League university of her dreams, and party with her friends. But on a night like any other, when the moon is full over the ocean, her life changes in a way that no one could have ever seen coming. On the sandy beaches of San Diego she meets Orion, a man from whom she cannot stay away, to whom her return becomes as inevitable as the tide kissing the shore. If that isn't enough, a kiss which changes everything plunges Callie head first into a world of mythic responsibility, epic danger, and heart stopping romance. The mer, an ancient race of warriors brought forth to defend the seas, show her wonders beyond what is humanly possible, forcing her into an archaic chain of events that bring together power, seduction, violence, and beauty in a terrifying, yet exhilarating mix. Then there’s the Banished to contend with, a group of psirens corrupted by the oceans abyss that stand to destroy the eternity Callie has been promised. Will she sacrifice herself for the greater good, or is the gravity that pulls her to Orion just too great to bear?

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First off let me start by just saying WOW! Paranormal Romance is my favorite genre. I have NEVER read a book solely based on mermaids. This book was a breath of fresh air from what I have been reading! It’s very well written for a Debut Author.  Kristy’s attention to detail is extraordinary. She made me feel like I was right on the beach and at the bottom of the ocean. I felt like I was right there in every scene.

The main characters in this novel are very likable.

Callie- She is such a strong main character. Her personality is relatable. She was also a nice change of pace compared to those “Help me help me damsels in distress” type female roles that seems to be taking over in books.

Orion- Where to start with this sexy Greek god of a merman! I LOVED that he was so down to earth and not entirely full of himself. His undulated love for Callie made him even more desirable.

I got swept up in all the mermaid lore. It was really fascinating the route the Author went with it.  I’ve always been a huge fan of Greek mythology so the fact Poseidon had a role in it made it all that much more interesting. This book really is amazing. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. THIS BOOK WILL BE THE NEXT BIG THING! It will be bigger and better than Twilight ever was. I’m so glad I was allowed to join in on this journey from the start. I can’t wait for the next book.

I would definitely recommend this book to others.
