Overall I have to say that I liked this book and can honestly give it 3.5 stars. The story has all of the right ingredients, romance, suspense, fear and vulnerability. The characters are clearly defined and their relationships are solidly interwoven.

However, the writing style took some getting used to for me personally. I had the feeling that I was simply reading notes in preparation for a story, or someone's diary notes, at the beginning. The prose did open up a little more as the story went on and it didn't feel quite as stilted after a while. Whether this was due to the writer's style opening up a little more or simply because I got used to it, I'm not sure, but it did get a little easier as the unfolding story held my attention.

The main issues for me were the many grammatical, spelling and editing errors. I know that if the author had employed a good proof reader, this would not have been a problem. The story will continue in a subsequent book and so I hope that the writer has the manuscript edited/proofread before publishing it, as the enjoyment is very much spoiled by so many errors. If you are marketing words, then they should be the best words and correctly presented.

If the next book is correctly edited, then I can see it being a 4.5 star rating as the overall story and characters are good with a well defined plot that will keep you wanting to know what will happen next. I would definitely buy the second episode.
