Twice upon a time by Hope Irving is a very refreshing read that is different to what I usually enjoy. A lot of times I find myself reading the same story -albeit told differently- and this amazing story is totally different from what I normally read! I applaud Hope Irving for catching and keeping my interest from page one.

Rose Perry is a half French half American 22 year old on vacation in Provincetown with her American family. After a devastating break up with her boyfriend she fell into a depression that found her hurting herself to feel. When her cousins girlfriend mentions a calligraphy class she signs up and is amazed by one of the teachers though it isn't the mysteriously sexy voice she listened to on the phone to register for the classes. When she meets the face attached to the voice she knows she had judgemental thoughts but soon enough, she finds herself obsessed.

So enters Virgil Black, the rough and sexy voice Rose fell into lust with. He is as mysterious and secretive as his voice sounded to Rose.

We find that there is a certain connection between the two but fear of rejection- on Rose's part, and Fear of danger-on Virgil's part. Leaves things to fester and for someone to come in that drenches rose's thoughts of Virgil returning her feelings causes her to find just what she needs, a distraction from her Virgil obsession and a summer fling. When Virgil has to leave and her returning to France looms closer the two share a special day but that's all it can be because Virgil has a secret, a secret that could change everything. Rose accepts an opportune offer from Bruce and it catches a regretful Virgil off guard.

To find out how Virgil and Rose's story continues you will have to read the second book. I can tell you myself I can't wait to read it. I am drawn to these two like no other! 4 out of 5 beautifully calligraphic stars to Hope Irving!
