I found this book to be thoroughly delightful. Because this was the author's first book, I wasn't sure what to expect, especially when the beginning seemed to move slow. But it didn't take long for the drama to begin, playing on my emotions and leading to something much more exciting. My heart broke for young Amy whose life fell apart in one horrifying moment. When Ben enters the picture, everything takes an unexpected turn. We spend the rest of the book watching to see if these two people, from different worlds, will be able to make any kind of relationship work between them, wondering if together they can find some sense of healing or if they are able to cope with the extreme changes necessary in order for them to continue down the path they are headed.

Jamie Matthews writes with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that had me laughing out loud. Her characters are vivid and unique and her story, though heartbreaking at moments, gave us a perfect ending. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised and look forward to seeing much more from her. It was small-town romance at its best.
