Review of Bayou Shadow protector by Debbie Herbert

April Meadows is a half fairy/half human sent on a mission
to enlist the help of the bayou hunters to save the Fae race. She struggles to
fit in her world and has always watched the human world from afar, staying
invisible. April needs to assure that the Shadow hunters help her battle evil
to save them all.
Chulah Rivers, Native American who hunts shadow spirits and
evil beings, stumbled upon April at the edge of the woods. He is saddened by the loss of his friends to
the evil spirits and heart-broken by a woman who has turned him down. He is
also fighting his feelings for a beautiful stranger that who knows too much
about him and his past.
Chulah and April had a turbulent relationship throughout the
book. He didn’t trust her and wondered if she was secretly working for evil. She
was desperate for him to help her race and for the approval of the other Fae. The
more time they spend together, the closer they get and the more Chulah wants to
deny his feelings.
This book has a great story-line and the supernatural
aspects of the book were well done. I loved experiencing a different atmosphere
and cultural references that are not common in other books. I loved seeing
Annie and Tombi again in this book. Chulah’s sister was also awesome. I have
read a few other books by this author and they have all been really good. I am
looking forward to reading more from Debbie Herbert.
