I really enjoyed reading this book. The idea of this novel takes place in the distant future, where Earth is completely shut down due to the variant gas that takes over, killing everything in sight. The human race takes cover underground and sends up a batch of children who are considered to be immune from the gas. The author did a great job in keeping me wanting more and in suspense throughout the whole novel. I really enjoyed his writing style over all and the pace he made for the story. It wasn't too fast or slow, it was just right. I also loved the dual points of view we get in the story, seeing it from not only the children in the book, but from other characters as well. The only negative part to the story is when the author had some of the characters separate and we don't get to see one of the characters for a long time. I wish the author would have included more about this character so we got to see what she was up to while she was away from the others for that long period of time. Overall I really enjoy this series and I'm looking forward to release of the next book in the series which comes out the end of March. I definitely plan on picking it up at some point and also looking into reading more from this author in the future as well.
