Another fabulous story in the Sexy Nerd Boys series by K.M. Neuhold! This little piece of heaven focuses on Dex and Remy who we’ve gotten to see glimpses of throughout the past two books. First, my confessions: I admit that I fell a little in love with Dex after learning that he’s been taking care of his 4 year old daughter on his own with the help of only his mother. My first take on Remy was not the best – she totally is portrayed as the girl who chases men around and she doesn’t hide her reputation. But as the stories evolved in the first two books, I started to develop a softer side for Remy. I began to discover that her story ran very deep and there had to be a reason why she never let anyone in far enough to get hurt. So I totally squealed in delight when this novella popped up on my Kindle!
Remy is a business major but the one thing standing in her way is Calculus. She hates the idea of a tutor until she slams into the hot dirty blonde with the southern drawl. Remy tries to turn her seductive tactics on Dex, but he doesn’t take the bait which makes her blanch because it always works. She grew up in a house where men never stayed around long enough to show her what love actually meant. And she’s only ever seen how heartbroken her mom was after all the men in her life left. So she’s always focused on the physical gratification from a man in order to not get hurt. But Dex offers something she’s never shared with a man – friendship and respect.
Dex was once the rebellious boy who had women fawning all over him, but life through him a curveball when he held his daughter in his hands. At that moment, he vowed to change his ways and focus on getting his degree in theoretical physics. Until the moment the dark haired beauty ran into him on his way for coffee. He can’t seem to temper down his attraction to Remy and he’s not sure his vow of celibacy can stand up against the vivacious woman. But underneath, he sees a woman whose never been treated with an ounce of respect but only as a sex object. And it’s like a moth to the flame – he wants to show her what a true gentleman should be like, even though he wasn’t like that in the past.
I love how their relationship evolves. Slow and steady often wins the race! Dex wants her to see the value in spending time together and getting to know each other. Quality is often better than quantity and he believes Remy deserves the best. But there are speed bumps along the way. Remy has never saw the good side of a relationship and taking a chance on a man is the furthest thing from her mind. But she can’t get Dex off her mind and when she tries to go back to her old ways, her thoughts often drift to him. Slowly, they begin to develop a deeper connection and it turns into something more than they could have imagined. But are they willing to take the risk and put their heart on the line?
KM Neuhold continues to deliver a sweet and sexy love story! The editing in this book has improved drastically from the first book and she continues to deliver a concise and quirky story that keeps you engaged throughout the whole book. I love the fact that she goes back and shows us the beginning of how Dex and Remy met and how their relationship evolved in the background during the same time frame as the first two books. I also love the interactions between Remy and Dex’s daughter Maya! Remy is a natural with kids and I love how creative she is and shares her passion of art with Maya. Dex is absolutely book boyfriend material! He’s sweet, thoughtful, caring and totally dirty when it comes to the bedroom.
So what’s the one thing that left me with a little frown? I thought it was a little too predictable. I guessed what was going to happen to the couple after they got caught up in the heat of the moment and I nailed it. I was hoping for a little plot twist or something not so predictable. But nevertheless, it was a beautiful and amazing story that warms my heart and makes me smile!
KM Neuhold has gained a reader for life! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
