The Lightning Luminary is an entertaining paranormal fantasy
book with a really cool twist on Greek mythology. It’s told from several points
of view that allows the reader to have a much more broad sense of the story
from lots of different characters and to see how each of them end up interwoven
into a complex plot. It was a mixture of
action, suspense, romance and intrigue.
Talia Stanley, the main character, is a lonely immortal Luminary.
She is one of the last of her race and has survived thousands of years by
hiding herself from the world and away from those who hunt Luminaries. She is forced to venture out of hiding and
into the world, where she happens to meet Mason.
Mason Rathbone is a gorgeous mortal and an artist who has
lost all of his family and feels alone in the world. He carried around a lot of guilt from his
past. He is dedicated, loyal, brave and
fun. He also is determined to get to
know Talia a lot better. He pursues her Talia and Mason have really good
chemistry and I loved their scenes together.
The other characters were well written and
entertaining. I really liked Grigori,
Talia’s oldest friend and Jamie, a shade which is only half luminary. I’m
looking forward to seeing more of them in future books. Eudora was also a very
interesting character and I can’t wait to see more of her. The evil Hadrian was
an incredibly bad, “bad guy”.
This book has a bit of violence that some people may find a
little disturbing. Hadrian does some horrific things. It also leaves off at a cliffhanger. I need to know what happens next and I am
looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
