I was asked to read and review this book for Late Night Books and Reviews.

A hunky ex marine, with his dog. A Mafia princess. Sounds like a recipe for disaster doesn't it? Not so, this is actually not a bad story of attraction and hot feelings between two people who know, from their separate pasts, what it's like to go through the mill in relationships with partners who have let them down, badly.

Ms Cliff certainly gets into the heart of her characters and fleshes them out so that you feel as if you know them, intimately. What man isn't attracted to a damsel in distress and what woman doesn't desire a man who loves his dog!

This episode covers a rather brief period of time in the story, but concentrates on detailing the personalities and background and in depth thoughts of the two characters and their budding relationship, until you come to understand them well.

Personally I found that the author dragged out the descriptions a little too much with long drawn out descriptions of how Quinn or Lexi thought or felt, and then repeated them from another angle. I prefer a book that moves along more quickly and develops the story without minute details being repeated in different ways.

There were a considerable number of typing / editing errors in this book with a lack of spaces between words...eg. Quinn felt thathe should move away.... Lexi's fatherwas aMafia ... I found this annoying and deterring as they were so frequent, but it could easily be corrected with some professional editing / proof reading.

I have the second book in this series to read next and I am hoping that the errors and excess details will be gone as the story itself is entertaining and rather delicious at times.
